Ivory Limbs by Ahab

By Dominic Loise

See a different wailing

where Captain Ahad

turns the tide on revenge

whittling lost limbs out

of discarded whale bone

for wounded soldiers

returning from the Civil War

as he sails over a divided

nation sharing his story

and helping a war torn

country heal from a history

of its own white supremacy
